Fair Use Policy

A Brief Summary

This policy outlines reasonable usage guidelines for Origits video hosting, including generous storage and bandwidth limits designed to support your business growth while maintaining platform performance for all users.

Last updated: July 31 2025

Introduction

At Origits, we built our video hosting platform for legitimate businesses who want to grow, engage their audiences, and convert viewers into customers. Our Fair Use Policy ensures that all users can enjoy reliable, fast service while protecting our platform from abuse.

This policy applies to all Origits accounts, with specific considerations for our Lifetime Deal customers who received early supporter pricing.

What is Fair Use?

Fair Use means using Origits for normal business operations in a way that doesn't negatively impact other users or our service infrastructure. We designed our platform for entrepreneurs, course creators, marketing agencies, and businesses who want professional video hosting with conversion tools.

Examples of Fair Use:

  • Hosting product demos, tutorials, and marketing videos
  • Using lead capture forms to build your email list
  • Embedding videos on your business websites
  • Storing and streaming videos for legitimate business purposes
  • Using analytics to optimize your video performance

Current Usage Guidelines

For All Accounts (Until Minute-Based Billing Launches in Q3 2025)

Storage Limit: 1TB total

  • Enough for thousands of high-quality business videos
  • Includes all video files, thumbnails, and related assets

Bandwidth Limit: 1TB per month

  • Covers extensive video streaming for most businesses
  • Automatically resets each calendar month

Account Ownership:

  • Each account is tied to one email address permanently
  • Lifetime accounts cannot change their registered email
  • Account transfers and resales are prohibited
  • Each person or business is limited to one lifetime account

Why These Limits?

These generous limits accommodate 99% of legitimate business usage while protecting our infrastructure. For context, 1TB of storage can hold approximately:

  • 2,000+ hours of HD video content
  • 500+ hours of 4K video content
  • Tens of thousands of short-form videos

What's Not Considered Fair Use

We consider the following activities as violations:

Storage and Bandwidth Abuse:

  • Using Origits as a backup service for non-video files
  • Hosting videos unrelated to your business operations
  • Streaming videos primarily for personal entertainment
  • Exceeding reasonable usage limits consistently

Account Misuse:

  • Creating multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits
  • Sharing account credentials with unauthorized users
  • Reselling or transferring lifetime accounts
  • Using automation to artificially inflate video views

Platform Abuse:

  • Attempting to reverse-engineer our systems
  • Using our service to distribute spam or malicious content
  • Violating copyright or intellectual property rights
  • Any activity that degrades service for other users

Monitoring and Enforcement

Our Approach: We monitor usage through automated systems but don't police every action. We trust our users to operate within reasonable bounds and only investigate when patterns suggest potential abuse.

If Limits Are Exceeded:

  1. First contact: Friendly email explaining the situation
  2. Discussion: We'll work with you to understand your needs
  3. Solutions: Often, we can suggest optimizations or discuss options
  4. Last resort: Account restrictions only for serious or repeated violations

We're reasonable people. If you have legitimate business needs that exceed these limits, contact us at [email protected]. We're often able to work out solutions.

Account Ownership and Transfers

Lifetime Account Rules:

  • Your account is permanently associated with your purchase email
  • Email changes are not permitted for lifetime accounts
  • Accounts cannot be sold, transferred, or shared with others
  • Each individual or business may purchase only one lifetime account

Legitimate Exceptions: We may consider email changes for:

  • Company rebranding or domain changes (with documentation)
  • Business acquisitions or mergers (with legal documentation)
  • Other legitimate business reasons reviewed on a case-by-case basis

To request an exception: Contact support at [email protected] with relevant documentation.

Transition to Minute-Based Billing

Starting Q3 2025:

  • New customers will pay based on actual video minutes watched
  • Lifetime Deal customers remain grandfathered at 300,000 minutes monthly
  • Current storage and bandwidth limits will be replaced by minute-based usage
  • This Fair Use Policy will be updated to reflect the new system

Your Lifetime Benefits Continue: Even after we launch minute-based billing, your lifetime account will include:

  • 300,000 minutes of video viewing per month
  • All features with no restrictions or gates
  • Continued priority support
  • Access to all future features and integrations
